The twowildtides one-year reunion was all we could have hoped for, plus more. Even though our ‘birthday’ isn’t for another couple weeks, we were still able to celebrate in style thanks to the Boscawen Inn.
The Boscawen is a home that was built in 1888 that is now used as a beautiful inn in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It is located on Cumberland Street, which is a few streets up from the waterfront but still boasts incredible ocean views. Although our room was facing the street, we could still enjoy the landscape from the spacious patio— the perfect place to enjoy a coffee or cold drink.
Our room was a ‘Classic Garden Facing’ suite that had two twin beds and comes at an affordable rate. The room, and most importantly the bathroom, was very clean. The beds were comfortable and despite our room facing the street, the noise was minimal. Also included with the room is a large dresser, air conditioning (thankfully!), a hair dryer, a clothing rack, and a nice table near the window.
The common area includes two sitting rooms, adorned with antiques from all over the world. Here, guests will find complimentary tea, coffee, and water as well as a place to sit down and unwind while listening to 30’s music which hums all day long. There are plenty of interesting books to browse and also a piano to play a tune. We recommend chatting and getting to know the other guests at every inn or b&b you visit— you never know who you’ll meet and what stories you’ll hear. We could have spent all day on the deck and in the sitting rooms and been quite content.
As we mentioned, the Boscawen Inn has a very large patio with a stunning view of the water. We loved seeing the sailboats and the sweeping grounds of the golf course. The patio is surrounded by lush gardens with beautiful flowers. There are plenty of tables and lounge chairs if you feel like relaxing, getting some work done, or having a drink. We spent lots of time on the deck snapping pictures of each other, and even enjoyed celebratory ‘birthday’ cupcakes out there that evening as we watched the sunset.
Included with your stay at the Boscawen is a complimentary breakfast in the dining room below the deck. We loved the dining room for its huge windows which let in plenty of natural light. There is a table with coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, toast, and pastries that you serve yourself. The staff comes to your table with the main course, which is plentiful! We were offered eggs, bacon, sausage, and strawberry pancakes, all of which were absolutely delicious and served quickly. We couldn’t have asked for better!
The Boscawen Inn is only a short walk from the waterfront, where you will find many quaint shops, restaurants, and other things to do in the community. Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so there are lots of exciting things to explore!
Our stay at the Boscawen couldn’t have been better. The grounds, the location, the rooms, the food; everything was wonderful. A huge thank you to the staff and management for making our time there great! If you ever find yourself in Lunenburg (which we think you should), be sure to book a room at the Boscawen Inn.
