Marble Mountain is a ski resort located on the west coast of Newfoundland, about 30 minutes from Corner Brook and about 20 minutes from Deer Lake International Airport. It is, in my opinion, the best of skiing and snowboarding that our province has to offer. They also have a zip line that is open year-round and it is such a thrill! It is 1000 feet long and 300 feet high- making it one of the highest zip lines in North America. If you are in the area, it is a must do.
We made the seven-hour drive from St. John’s to Marble Mountain for a fun weekend getaway with friends. If you are from Newfoundland or have been here recently, you know that our winters are not always ideal; snow, rain, snow, rain, snow, rain… but this weekend we got lucky. The weather was beautiful- light snow and not too cold, until Saturday night we had 30 centimeters dumped on us! Nonetheless, we were able to make the most of our weekend.
We stayed in a large home that we rented for the weekend in the beautiful Humber Valley Resort. Let me tell you one thing: this house was incredible. Five bedrooms (2 masters, 2 regular + 1 loft), five bathrooms, heated floors, more closets and pantries than I could count, and a full wrap around deck on both levels. And it was so cozy! Here are a few snaps:
Fun Fact: Homes in the Humber Valley Resort have attracted figures such as Oprah Winfrey and The Queen of England!
The world class lodge at Marble Mountain is the perfect place to warm up after a day of skiing. They have delicious drinks for an affordable price and they usually have pretty good entertainment. The duo that played during the evening we spent there nailed folk songs I love by The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, and more.
Before we headed into the lodge Friday evening, we went night skiing; something I had never done before. It was a cool experience, the hill was not very busy so we did not have to wait in line at the lifts and we had the whole hill to ourselves. We skied all day on Saturday and had drinks at the chalet that night while we were blasted with a winter storm. It was such a well-needed relaxing weekend! If you are planning a vacation to Newfoundland, whether it is winter or summer, Marble Mountain has a lot to offer.
Have you been to Marble Mountain? Have any questions about your upcoming Newfoundland vacation? We love hearing from you!

I literally spent last weekend on the west coast as well, and even stayed at the Humber Valley Resort – too funny! I went for a snowmobile trip as I have no interest in snowboarding/skiing but I couldn’t believe the amount of snow over there!
