I don’t always love carrying around a heavy, cumbersome DSLR when I travel. But it sure is worth it to have crisp, editable, high-quality images to play with and look back on for years and years after an exciting trip. When I travel (and when I have my DSLR), I always snap photos of everything– click, click, click, nonstop. I don’t often pause to ponder or frame a shot. Instead, I try to enjoy the moment and enjoy the place I’m visiting, so I have vivid memories to accompany my vivid photos. Later, after I get home and have had time to decompress, I’ll download all the images from my camera and sift through, picking out the ones that capture my attention or trigger a memory and I’ll process that photo a little in Photoshop.
I’m not a professional travel photographer. But I have been a professional portrait photographer and I am skilled in Photoshop. I thought because we’re banned from travel that I’d look back through my files for some of my favourite images from my travels to share with you here. These are my top ten, in no particular order:
I had planned on giving a brief description on each photograph, but it started to sound very repetitive and inauthentic. I’d rather you interpret the photos and leave comments. Which is your favourite? What was your reaction to the images? Are there any you don’t like?
I definitely cannot wait until we’re back on the move again and able to go abroad. For now, I’ll have to be satisfied reflecting on photos from trips in the past and I hope you’ll stick around for that too.
