After many weeks of backpacking, I finally landed in Chiang Mai. It was a bitter sweet arrival as it marked the last destination on my backpacking trip of South East Asia and Australia. I was so thankful to have experienced so many beautiful locations, people and cultures. I was excited to see what Chiang Mai had to offer.
My stay in Chiang Mai was short but sweet. I had the pleasure of hanging out with the elephants as I wrote about in a past article. I also loved wandering the streets of this city, checking out incredibly detailed and stunning temples for hours on end. I loved visiting Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep: three temples with exquisite beauty.

Other than hopping from one temple to the next, I spent most of my time simply exploring. The night market is really cool– a great place to grab some souvenirs and a cheap bite. Be sure to check it out. I encourage you to wander and explore on your own as well. I stumbled upon a backyard restaurant that turned out to be super cute and yummy! Embrace the adventure.
