Anyone who knows me, knows that my favourite place in the world is near the ocean. I love the beach so much! There’s something so calming and rejuvenating about being near the water. It’s where I feel the most at peace. So naturally, when I travel heading to the beach is a top priority. Luckily, there are a number of beaches within a short distance of Sydney, Australia.
First up was Bondi Beach! It’s such a short drive from Sydney, hop on a bus or grab an Uber. Catching my first glimpse of Bondi was incredible. It was like seeing my 7th grade tumblr feed come to fruition. My jaw almost dropped, from the surfers, the turquoise water, the soft sand and stunning views – I was sold. I instantly fell in love with the landscape.
I highly recommend doing the Bondi to Coogee Beach walk. It’s about 6km coastal walk and it was absolutely amazing. Take the walk at your own pace and really stop to enjoy the sights. I was lucky enough to be there during Sculptures by the Sea and take in some super cool exhibits along the way. If you’d like to check it out the festival runs from October 24 – November 10 2019.
Beach #2 that I checked out was only a short ferry ride from the Sydney Harbour. I headed over to Manly for an afternoon of rest and relaxation. It’s a beautiful beach and great spot to try out surfing! Give it a try. It was a lot less busy than Bondi but it was a cooler day when I visited it. It’s a neat little area with lots of restaurants and shops to check out. Plus if you hop on the ferry back at sunset – prepare for some world class views.
I loved beach hopping near Sydney. What’s your favourite beach to visit near Sydney? In Australia?
