The holidays are right around the corner. That means parties, parties, and more parties with your closest friends and family. I love getting dressed up for holiday parties, but knowing what to wear can be a struggle. Luckily, Bombshell by Michelle, or Bombshell Boutique, an online clothing store based in Newfoundland and Labrador, has us covered.
I styled some of my favourite pieces from the shop– how I’ll wear them for my favourite traditional holiday parties. I am certainly no fashion expert, but I hope you can take some inspiration from my personal style when you’re choosing your holiday party outfits.
Tibbs Eve– As far as I know, Newfoundland and Labrador is the only place in the world that celebrates Tibbs Eve, and trust me, we celebrate. We celebrate hard. The word ‘Tibbs’ evolved from the word ‘tipsy’, yes, as in drunk. Basically, us Newfoundlanders and Labradorians love to get drunk on Christmas Eve Eve, because its the time we all get together as friends before the family-devoted days of Christmas. Tibbs Eve is generally not a formal event, it’s a night at the bar (or in the shed) so the dress code is pretty casual.
I’ll be wearing a denim skirt with a tube top and my comfy Jeffrey Campbell booties (they let me get tipsy without tipping over). I’m topping it off with the Cozy Club Teddy Coat from Bombshell Boutique. I’ve been OBSESSED with this coat because it is so warm and comfortable and cozy!
Christmas Day– after the shenanigans of Tibbs Eve (and the potential Christmas Eve hangover) its time for a day of laughter with family and delicious food. My family usually goes to my grandparents’ house for Christmas dinner and we like to dress up and act classy before we stuff our faces with turkey.
This Christmas (and I have had this planned for months now), I’ll be wearing all black except for the gorgeous Bombshell by Michelle Mad for Plaid Skirt with the incredibly comfortable and stylish Bow Ankle Booties. Both the skirt and the booties were a staple for me in the latter half of my social work placement and now they will be over Christmas holidays too. I recommend sizing up in the skirt as it doesn’t have much give, but the booties are true-to-size.
Boxing Night– you might want to be fancy, but you’ve got to stay warm too. Pair a pretty dress with a cute and cozy coat. Of course I needed another excuse to wear my teddy bear coat!
New Year’s Eve– most people go to formal parties for NYE. My friends and I prefer to ring in the new year at the cabin. I love that we just sit around, chat about the year gone by, and celebrate as the clock strikes 12. It’s laidback and relaxed, so lowkey attire is the go-to. Jeans, Blundstones, cozy socks and a scarf, plus the Keepin’ It Toasty Off-the-Shoulder Sweater from Bombshell by Michelle is ideal for NYE.
