2017 was one hell of a ride. It was twowildtides’ first full year in existence and we were able to go on all kinds of wild, meaningful, and memorable adventures. Thanks to an app called 2017bestnine.com, we were able to see our nine best performing Instagram posts of the year. These are some of our favorite shots too, so we were inspired to write about the stories behind them.
This article is dedicated to all of our readers and followers who have helped to make twowildtides everything that it is today and allowing us to continue to grow through trial, error, and success. We appreciate you so much and thank you with our whole hearts.
#1 — Char’s Summer Feels
This year Char was fortunate enough to be able to fly to Nova Scotia for a long-weekend with Linds in her home province. This shot was taken on a blazing hot August afternoon in Port Mouton on a secluded beach where we hung out and took pictures all afternoon. We love the carefree vibes of this photo and it reminds us to take the time to clear our heads and just enjoy the moments we have in the sun.
#2 — Paths to the Ocean in Ferryland
In July, Char took a roadtrip around the Irish Loop on the Southwestern Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland. It was her first time in Ferryland and she was lucky enough to capture this stunning shot of pathways down to the ocean on the lighthouse grounds. Read more about that adventure here. This is hands down Char’s favorite capture of the year.
#3 — West Coast, Best Coast?
Linds ended the summer of 2017 right with a whirlwind trip to British Columbia. She grabbed this shot while crossing the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver. Although the East Coast will always be home, the West Coast had her falling pretty hard. Hopefully, we will get to further explore this beautiful province more in the years to come! Read more about that adventure here.
#4 — A Weekend to Remember
As we previously mentioned, we had a fun-filled and exciting reunion in Nova Scotia this summer. It was a weekend we won’t soon forget. We spent time in Halifax, Lunenburg, and the Annapolis Valley. Linds gave Char a true taste of Nova Scotia life and we loved every second of it. Char captured this shot from the window of her plane on her way home after a tearful goodbye. The beauty of this sunset was the perfect ending to an amazing trip.
#5 — Throwback to London, England
Char published a ‘photo essay’ type of article highlighting all of her favorite architecture from her 2012 trip to Europe. You can check that out here. Linds also wrote about her travels in England in 2017 which you can see here. Even though this was a throwback post and this shot wasn’t actually taken in 2017, it still provokes so many memories 5 years later. Photos like this keep us looking forward to the adventures that have yet to come.
#6 — Note to Self: Read ‘Note to Self’
One of our favorite books of 2017 was ‘Note to Self’ by Connor Franta. It is raw, beautiful, and explores parts of the mind that some people never dare to expose. Any young adult can relate to some part of this book. It definitely altered our outlook on life and affected how we lived in 2017. Read a more in-depth review of this book here.
#7 — One Year of twowildtides!!
Perhaps the most exciting and rewarding day of 2017 was August 22nd– twowildtides’ one-year anniversary. This was such a proud day for us and we were grateful to be able to celebrate it together (kind-of) on the patio of the Boscawen Inn in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. We have accomplished so much in this short time and we have big plans for the future. Thank you for being there and making this happen.
#8 — Whale Watching Along the Irish Loop
A clear shot of the horizon on a gorgeous, sunny day. But that’s not all– if you look closely, you can see a whale breaching right in the middle of the picture. Also taken during Char’s trip around the Irish Loop, our Instagram followers loved this shot and so do we.
#9 — Flipping Through Our Favorite Book
Char grabbed this shot of Linds during their stay at the Boscawen Inn (read about it here!) and we absolutely love it. This picture, and the fascination on Linds’ face, truly shows how inspired we are by our world and all of the exciting opportunities it holds. It screams “where to next?” and has us wanderlusting so hard.
Thanks again for sticking with us for another year. We hope 2018 brings you love, safety, and happiness. We wish you nothing but success and items ticked off your bucket list. Stay wild.
xoxo,
char&linds
