Autumn is fast approaching and with it the return of scarf weather! The blanket scarf is one of our favourite go-to fall fashion staples. It’s cute, warm and can be worn in many different ways. It’s an extremely versatile piece that is well worth the purchase. Below we’ve styled our favourite blanket scarf in seven unique ways. Check them out!
- SHAWL
This is an easy way to stay warm when you’re still trying to hang on to your favourite summer dresses. Throw a blanket scarf over your shoulders to stay fashionably warm.
- OPEN & FLOWY
This is one of the simplest ways to wear a blanket scarf. Simply place it around your neck – voilà! Just leave it open. Try this look with coloured jeans or flowy pants.
- WRAP AROUND
This is one of the most traditional ways to wear a scarf whether it’s a blanket style or not. Loosely wrap the scarf around on both sides of your neck and you’re set! Try this look with dark jeans or a cute skirt.
- CIRCULAR
This look is similar to the wrap around above, but instead of letting the loose ends hang down, simply tuck them underneath to create a circle. We like to joke that this one is the ‘pool floaty’ or the ‘donut’. It’s a cute way to bundle up with a flannel or an oversized jacket.
- FULL BODY WRAP
If the shawl isn’t quite warm enough – don’t worry. Just unwrap the blanket scarf completely and wrap it around yourself like an actual blanket. We love this look for fall campfires or that last weekend at the cottage.
- ONE SHOULDER
This look is simple and easy! Just throw the scarf over one shoulder and you’re good to go! This look is perfect for a cozy day or bundling up on your walk home.
- BEACH BLANKET
The seventh and final look is to literally use your blanket scarf as a blanket! Perhaps you want to take in one last visit to the beach or a beautiful picnic among the autumn trees – regardless the blanket scarf is versatile and easy for some quality time in the great outdoors.

I think blanket scarves are the best invention ever. I love them for airplane rides in the cooler months.

I like to wear it in the shawl style you have pictured but pull it up over my shoulders, bring the front pieces together, and belt it. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on that 🙂
